AdTherM Research Days 2025 were held on 5–6 November at Luleå University of Technology, bringing together researchers, PhD students, and industry partners for two days of presentations, discussions, and exchange of ideas in the field of sustainable heat transfer and cooling technologies.

The agenda featured several invited talks highlighting current challenges and opportunities in the sector. Malin Larsson from Luleå Energi shared insights on the energy company’s role in the green transition, while Mattias Vesterlund from RISE presented on thermal management in data centres.

Throughout the event, researchers, doctoral students, and industry partners presented their latest findings and progress across AdTherM’s research themes, with a strong focus on energy-efficient solutions and the development of accurate and effective numerical tools for sustainable thermal management. Research at the AdTherM Centre continues to advance on multiple fronts. Multiphase flow studies are progressing through combined large-scale Euler–Euler simulations, droplet simulations using Euler–Lagrange, and detailed bubble- and droplet-scale VOF modelling. In parallel, work on heat-transfer enhancement and combustion is refining modelling strategies, assessing available tools, and identifying when advanced approaches such as LES are needed to balance accuracy and computational cost.

The event concluded with a workshop where participants discussed future research directions and opportunities for collaboration within the Centre. A warm thank you to everyone who contributed to two inspiring and productive days in Luleå!
